The Wayward Wind

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The Wayward Wind is a category on this blog. It is also a darn good classic song. It’s been remade a few times… I think Waylon Jennings even did a version with someone one time. Performed in this video clip by Gogi Grant, it’s as good today as when it was first performed. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do!

Abracadabra!

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Well, I was looking for a CW McCall song, but I couldn’t find it. I opted for the Steve Miller Band instead. This song, from the eighties, is one that I heard coming from my then-teenaged daughter’s room an awful lot. I figure, if she liked it that much, it will probably bring back memories for a lot of you as well. I hope you enjoy it!

Doing it right, the Fenster way!

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

As a parent, one of the most heartbreaking things you go through may be watching a child that you know to be highly intelligent failing in school. This occurrence is extremely high among children who are intensely creative… remember all those old sayings about people with an “artistic temperament”? Fortunately, there IS a place where children who fail in the public school system can go to achieve their full potential. In fact, that is what the Fenster School is all about. The Fenster School is a boarding school for teens that specializes in the underachiever. At this school, children learn to achieve their potential through the development of a sense of responsibility and accountability. Self esteem improves, and they are assisted with attaining acceptance at various forms of higher learning, once they have earned their high school diploma. If your child is floundering in the public school system, why not give them a better chance? Contact Fenster today!

Coffee and Rockapella… Life is Good.

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

As far as I am concerned, if the word is “acapella”, the group is ROCKAPELLA. Probably best known for the great job they did on the theme song for the kid’s game show “Where in the World is Carman Sandiego”, they actually have a large array of great songs available. The video clip below, however, is a coffee commercial. I chose it because it combines my two favorite things…. great music and great coffee. That, and even I never realized that they did this commercial!

Queen of Denial

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

As a Mel Tillis fan, I must admit I was a bit skeptical a few years back when his daughter became a singer as well. I know, I know. There have been several cases where children of stars do just as well. But there are far more cases where they don’t, and so I tend to ignore them. But this song is just cute. It has a typical country beat, too much overlay on the music, but it’s cute.

It’s All About Getting Seen!

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

This post actually applies to anyone with something they are trying to market, but in keeping with my site theme, I am directing it to the musicians among us. Musicians have a really hard time these days getting their music out in front of people. Well, have you ever thought about using DRTV? That’s Direct Response Television. You might have seen it in the form of an infomercial, perhaps. But think about it… a basic infomercial of your performances, giving the television audience the opportunity to buy your CD then and there. It’s a great marketing idea, and Hawthorne Direct can make it happen for you. They can even make sure your infomercial gets air time! It would be well worth your consideration! Just click the link and start finding out what they can do for you!

Sixteen Tons

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

I had to do some serious looking for this one, because, believe it or not, I managed to forget that the singer was Tennessee Ernie Ford. I found this song in several other incarnations, including renditions by Johnny Cash and Rockapella, but this one just isn’t right with any other singer, no matter how good they may be. This song was a major hit back in 1955. Most people since grew up hearing it. My grandchildren, however, had not heard it until today, so this one is for them. Enjoy!
