Candy Thoughts for Cchristmas Day
Tuesday, December 25th, 2007Candy canes began as straight white sticks of sugar candy used to decorated the Christmas trees. A choir leader at Cologne Cathedral chose to have the ends ctooked to depict a shepherd’s crook and he would pass them out to the children to keep them hushed up during the church services. It wasn’t until about the 20th century that candy canes acquired their red stripes.
With that in mind, in choosing a song for today I went with this song from the 1920s instead of a more traditional Christmas carol. Happy holidays!
