The Wilburn Brothers are a really big deal here in my neck of the woods. They grew up just down the road from here, and played on street corners just across the state line when they were trying to get people to notice their music. It’s being decided on, I believe, which bridge (or street, I forget which) is going to be renamed for them the next time the Hardy, Arkansas city council meets. The Wilburn Brothers went on to become quite famous. In the sixties they even had their own television show, where they hosted people like Jeannie C. Riley, singing HARPER VALLEY PTA.

GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE TV Cartoon Intro

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

No collection of sixties television themes would be complete without the theme song to GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE. Every kid growing up in that era watched it, and I can assure you that every parent and grandparent of cartoon watching kids had this song dripping out of their ears. We found ourselves humming it while making dinner or cleaning the house. This song just would not LEAVE. I guess it still hasn’t.

BATMAN TV Theme Song (1966)

Friday, June 29th, 2007

You will probably find yourself running into a lot of television theme songs on here because, well, I like them. This video clip is obviously not the one that originally introed the show, but it has a LOT of great vintage shots. The music itself really takes you back in time as well. It has a very definite sixties, almost James Bond flair to it. I had forgotten how period dated the song was. When I think “Batman” he seems timeless.
