These days, particularly since Rap became popular among those with no taste and a bad sense of hearing, harmonizing seems to be a more or less lost art form. Well, if you want to listen to (c)Rap, that’s up to you. There was a time, during the transitional period just before rock became a big thing, that harmony was everything. The Penguins were experts at harmony, as their performance of the classic song EARTH ANGEL shows. This song was highlighted in the “Back to the Future” movie, by the way.

Although the kids of the eighties thought it was a brand new thing when the Bangles hit the scene, girl groups were not new. They flourished in the sixties, for example. In this classic teen song, LEADER OF THE PACK, the Shangri Las give a rather melodramatic warning to all teen girls. Might be an idea to take heed of the warning, ladies!

The Wayward Wind is a category on this blog. It is also a darn good classic song. It’s been remade a few times… I think Waylon Jennings even did a version with someone one time. Performed in this video clip by Gogi Grant, it’s as good today as when it was first performed. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do!

Well, I was looking for a CW McCall song, but I couldn’t find it. I opted for the Steve Miller Band instead. This song, from the eighties, is one that I heard coming from my then-teenaged daughter’s room an awful lot. I figure, if she liked it that much, it will probably bring back memories for a lot of you as well. I hope you enjoy it!

As far as I am concerned, if the word is “acapella”, the group is ROCKAPELLA. Probably best known for the great job they did on the theme song for the kid’s game show “Where in the World is Carman Sandiego”, they actually have a large array of great songs available. The video clip below, however, is a coffee commercial. I chose it because it combines my two favorite things…. great music and great coffee. That, and even I never realized that they did this commercial!
